March Update

LHS GARDENING TALKS ONLINE!!

Yes – after cancelling all our events in the last year, the continuing uncertainty about lockdown end dates, government regulations about indoor meetings, and the limits on numbers at the Triangle, we are finally going to offer online gardening talks for you via ZOOM!

This may not appeal to everyone, but it is a way for us to keep in touch and keep momentum going so let’s hope we get an encouraging response. We can have up to 100 members joining the sessions and you will be sent an e mail invitation link a few days before the event.

APRIL 6th @ 7-30pm ALAN HORGAN

Topic – RASPBERRIES AND STRAWBERRIES – PESTS AND DISEASES – LESSONS FOR HOME GARDENERS FROM COMMERCIAL GROWERS.

Alan is one of our members, who is a qualified horticulturalist specialising in commercial crop protection and has very kindly offered to do a trial talk for us to see how we get on with zooming. So let’s support him!

MAY 4th @ 7-30pm we shall hold a (very) brief AGM business meeting, followed by

8-00 pm PAUL GALLIVAN – HEAD GARDENER, WOOLBEDING

Topic – A TOUR THROUGH THE SEASONS AT WOOLBEDING and an INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW GLASSHOUSE.

A chance to see and hear news and views from this wonderful local garden.

JUNE 25th  @ 7 for 7-30pm

DAN PEARSON’s hotly anticipated talk THE EDUCATION OF A GARDENER.

Details of arrangements for this ‘live’ online talk for those of you who have reserved or paid for places will be in the next newsletter.

Lesley Finnegan, Speaker Organiser lesley.finnegan@btinternet.com cannot guarantee to answer any queries but will try!
