Welcome to the home of Liss Horticultural Society

CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

Update 30 March 2020

Dear Member

I am sure you must all have realised by now that sadly we have had to cancel the Spring Show and meetings etc until further notice in line with the Government’s instructions.

The Kew Gardens trip is cancelled and refunds are being made. Refunds will also be made for any future trips if they are also cancelled.

The 80th Anniversary Celebrations in June have been postponed until later in the year.

The Plant Sale on 16th May is also postponed but there may be an opportunity to buy plants later but how we do this is unsure at the moment and will depend on developments over the next few weeks!

Sadly Ken has had to close the Trading Hut.

Your health and safety is upper most in our minds at this unusual time!

For future developments in the LHS please visit the website [http://www.liss-horticultural-society.co.uk/]www.liss-horticultural-society.co.uk

or email me at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or phone me 01730 893454 or any committee member, numbers were in the last newsletter.

Stay safe

Best wishes

Sue Jordan

LHS Hon Secretary

Further to my letter below please be advised that NO activities/events will take place until further notice.

Also be aware that the Hut is closed until further notice.

Dear Members,
Please be aware, that as a result of the current guidance concerning “social contacts” during the coronavirus outbreak, and taking into account our own social responsibility towards you as members, your committee has decided that we will cancel the following scheduled events:

The Spring Show - Sunday 5 April 2020
“A Gardeners Year” - guest speaker evening - Tuesday 7 April 2020
“Losing the Plot” - guest speaker evening - Tuesday 5 May 2020

We will also keep under review the following events, and inform you of their status at a later stage
Kew Gardens Outing - Tuesday 19 May 2020 (refunds will be authorised should this be cancelled).

We will continue to trade from the Hut until advised otherwise.

The Plant Sale will go ahead as planned, but this decision will again be subject to review as things progress. Our current thoughts are that there should NOT be any bakery for sale at the plant Sale; again, this will be reviewed.

Finally, these are worrying times, but a total dedication to following every twist and turn of the story is bad for our mental well-being! Make sure that you do stay healthy, take regard of the advice when you see it, and keep active (by maintaining your garden etc). If you are in need of assistance at any time, please do not suffer alone – speak to some-one!

Keep well, and see you all when this has blown through!
